Tweets and post have become the new norm for getting tidbits of news, ideas, and encouragement for the day. Nothing wrong with short statements of important facts and reminders, but let us not live on tidbits but real food.
The danger of only eating tidbits for our mind and heart is starving to death of important spiritual nutrition, all the while thinking we are feasting. Life is deeper than just a morsel of spiritual food, milk and meat are necessary to grow stronger and mature every day.
1 Peter 1:25–2:3 KJV “1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.
2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
2:3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
Dig deep into the Word of God and do not just rely on little snippets to satisfy one’s spiritual hunger! Apostle Paul encourage young Timothy to study the Word of God so he might be approved of God for service.
2 Timothy 2:14–18 KJV “2:14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2:16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
2:17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
2:18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.”
Amplified version: 2Timothy 2:15 “Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.”
Paul warns Timothy on who to listen to and who to avoid. Not everyone is speaking the truth; the Word of God is the truth. Dig deep into the spiritual riches found in God’s word and you will grow in grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
