4:5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
From my Bible reading this morning, a beautiful passage for the day ahead.
So much in life tries to destroy our rejoicing. It tries to suck the life out of us by getting us to focus on the minor so we forget the major. It brings in dark clouds to overshadow the blessings of God. Darkness prevails because we focus on the darkest part and not the blessed light.
Ask yourself this question, “What I am stressing over, will it matter three months from now?”
We have a tendency to stress over temporal things and gloss over eternal things. We stress over things we cannot control. We stress over what happens. We stress over little things we have allowed to become an infected splinter which becomes so touchy.
So what can we do?
1. Rejoice in the Lord – rejoice in our Saviour, salvation, grace, forgiveness, restoration, and eternal life. Rejoice in His blessings on us.
2. Pray, pray, and pray – bring what is on our hearts to the Lord
3. Let God’s peace still our hearts – peace comes from love. When I realize how much God loves me, it removes the fear and brings peace to my heart and soul.
4. Focus on eternal things – keep your mind on Christ
Isaiah 26:3 KJV “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”
